I am the keyboard player, as it happens Last show I played the MIDIs on my FP-7F which is okay to not bad at some instruments (especially piano, guitar and bass) but is really bad at others (percussion in general and wind instruments - which is what I need!). I also did the arranger thing and it was fun as well, if your keyboard player is up for it.Thanks for the advice. I did this in a duet for 5 years and it was a lot of fun. I also did the arranger thing and it was fun as well, if your keyboard player is up for it. Outboard effects, EQ's, and good speakers and subs really the SMF's sound more realistic. BK7m is on the bottom of that quality level. If you want even the GM sounds to be good you will not find that in box less than $1,500. Sweetwater has some less than known boxes. Plug in SMF players on google and look around. This is the final thing and may not be needed change some of the GM sounds do better tones inside the arranger or SMF player/tone box. You need full editing of your tracks usually there will be 16 of them. Next you wanna make sure that your SMF's are 1's and not 0's. Most of those boxes are not arrangers and are more karaoke style SMF's. There are some boxes that will do simple volume adjustments on the tracks maybe even delete some annoying trumpet sound that just reeeks SMF. Most high end arrangers from KORG, Yamaha and Roland will do a good job at playing SMF's.
